Genesis 5:5 –
Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.
930 year!! Guess you’d need to live that long to populate the earth!! Chapter 5 deals with Adams lineage … “back in the day” that was one of the most important parts of their history, to show a connection with God and Adam. In Utah, “rumor has it,” that there is a cave or vault (in the Little Cottonwood Canyon) which the Mormon Church is supposed to have the entire world’s lineage from Adam. That would be cool to check out!!
Sometimes as I get older … I am glad I will only see 30 to 50 more years. Could not imagine another 900!! I would be a mess by then, although may be out of credit card debt by then!
From this chapter one character stands out, Enoch. This is one of two who “cheated death” and was taken to be with the lord, in whole. Verse 24 says he was “walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.” Would that seem crazy for anyone around? Hey where did Enoch go?? You have to wonder if any current missing persons had that happen to them??
Although, this chapter was “boring” … you will find Genesis is interesting and you will see much of the “stories” from the bible come from this book … at least the ones they make movies on.
