It NEEDS To Be Done!

Words we hear almost every day, on the job, at home, from
friends or that little voice in your head. Projects pile up and they “need” to
be attended to. I was drawn to Ephesians 5:15-17 that discusses time
management:

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but
as wise,16 making the most of every opportunity, because
the days are evil.17 Therefore do not be foolish, but
understand what the Lord’s will is.

I have been hung up on distractions from God the last few
weeks, if you haven’t been able to tell I have been slow to post and the
subjects are concerning our busy lives. As you may know we are in the final
days of our move to “paradise” and I will talk on that in the future. But
leading up to it, we have had to do some major work in a short time.

I have been living on the edge for the last few weeks,
having been able to go to church every once and a while but that is about it. I
pick up a prayer book and fall asleep within a few minutes. All the projects “need”
to be done now and there is no time for much else.

Just now I “needed” to help feed the horses and proceeded to
have on almost kick me playing food games. It was right at chest height which
made me freak out since my bypass is less than a year. I walked away shortly
after.

I have been accused of spending too much time in the past
reading the Bible and not enough time on leaning my wife. While I agree this is
something that may be true, it again has been something tugging me away from
God and His word. So do I just cave and let life overwhelm me or do I preserver
through, keeping my focus on God?

Now how does Paul’s words apply to what’s going on in life?
A bunch since the majority of our panic and stress are over projected that “need”
to be completed NOW that have no bearing on getting what “needs” to be done NOW
completed. Sure they are necessary, but in no way “needed” to be done now. So I
sit in a home that is not packed out yet and am looking at coming back tonight,
working all day tomorrow, them coming back to hopefully finish, then working
all day the next and finally doing clean up.

My question to Paul is if you know what God’s will is and it
doesn’t match what everyone else’s will is, how do I “roll”? The Bible say to
do when a husband and wife are at odds with what needs to be done? The Ten
Commandments say honor your father and mother and don’t sleep around, but
nothing about honoring your spouse. I am just on a rant today as you can tell
and just trying to get things that “need” to be done before we lose a deposit.
While at the same time paying out 6 times that for the projects that could have
waited. I need to “be still”!!
