Is Being Mad At God Ok?

The question today is can we be mad at God and pray about
it? I think if we say no we are not remembering our prayers. I can think of
more than once yelling at the top of my lungs … away from mankind … and getting
down right angry with circumstances.

We can find all over the place where people are upset at
God, Job for his anguish, Jonah when Nineveh was spared, David multiple times,
Jeremiah and so on. We need look at Psalm 94 to see David being PO’ed at God
for not destroying the enemy. Verse 3 is a great example:

How long, Lord, will the
wicked,
how long will the wicked be jubilant? (NIV)

Often we are mad if things don’t go the way we planned while
other times we are upset at circumstances, but the key is to realize it is
normal. God already knows your heart and sometimes you just need to let it go.
Often in the outburst, you will get clarity on why or what needs to be done. I
know this has happened to me often when I am indignant.

Does this mean you are now allowed to rant day in and day
out with God? No, not at all we need to quickly get anger and discontent out of
our system quickly and regain focus on God’s glory and ultimate plan. I know we
do derail his plans often by our own action or lack of action, but He will
adjust and continue we just need to regain focus quickly to follow His lead.

I know it’s hard not to lose it from time to time. I believe
the Bible shows it’s normal and to do it. But again, focus on your solutions
and not God’s. What I mean is you need to understand why and again that answer
may not be prevalent until years if not decades later.

The key is lean on God as you do your close friends.
When you are upset, they understand and will let you go. And when you calm,
they will repair the hurt and help find a solution. Just relax and don’t think
each and every prayer to God has to follow the XYZ formula.
