Ecclesiastes 8:11-12 –
<11> When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. <12> But even though a person sins a hundred times and still lives a long time, I know that those who fear God will be better off.
This means a bunch in society today on so many levels what not following this has done. It escalates, as people start to feel “safe” doing evil. Don’t let yourself be comfortable with letting sin into your lives. It becomes a downward spiral, the more you do not get punished for doing something wrong the more you think it’s ok. What happens with Mom and Dad, the police, the government, the school or ___________ (fill in your blank) ain’t NOTHING compared to having to explain this to God!!
We all do this and must realize the implications. Sure we can justify things, oh they won’t miss it, they will spend it wrong, no one else is on the road, it’s safe to do this … the old saying “what goes around comes around” applies here.
Verse 15 says it all … “So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.” … WORK HARD AND BE HAPPY!! Simple words that are hard to follow.
