Revelation 6:15 –
Then everyone—the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person—all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
The “end times” or also known as the “apocalypse” is described in this book. As we build our “nest egg” or our kingdom or our fortress for safety, we see it really doesn’t matter. This chapter describes the 4 horseman of the apocalypse. Each has a specific role and is very ominous in their purpose. The interesting thing is no one will be “spared” judgment from God. Now this is not a justification for NOT following God’s financial “Laws” because we will never know when “it” will happen.
If you look throughout history the one thing you’ll see is justice being given out selectively. Kings, rulers and congress make the rules so most of the time they are spared from judgment. The wealthy and powerful seem to avoid prosecution by influencing the system with money. The only people that seem to get caught in the worlds mess are slaves and the normal Joe’s. But this verse says everyone will face God’s judgment and that is fair!
Let’s look at the four horseman of the apocalypse and see their job. The first on a white horse is there to “win many battles”. If we look at history, winning a war comes at a great cost of human life. Sure the victory may be freeing, but for many it’s the end. The next horse is the red one, who represented war and slaughter everywhere. I think the difference between the two was the white horse represents Israel’s or maybe Christian battles and the red one represents everyone else.
The black horse is one that interests me since it does not talk about death but financial chaos. Imagine if a day’s wages was what it took to feed yourself! Your money was worthless because of inflation and who cares if you were “rich” it still required hard labor to survive since money is no longer the definition of wealth. I am interested in this one since six times in less than 200 years the nation has fallen into a depression, with a few spreading across the world. We are sitting on a ticking financial time bomb right now and could face a much larger crisis than ever before.
The final horse is a green one and I believe represents I believe a more personal death. The black and red horse represents war and the black one represents financial calamity, this one is clear with famine and disease. It also includes death by the sword which is not part of war but more a one on one fight. Think of murder being the rage of an individual. Think it is ugly now imagine everyone starving, broke and sick, even sane people will do “what it takes” to survive. Yes it will be awful, but I also have hope that if we repent we may be spared as Nineveh was before Jonah. Hopefully we will not find out in our live times.
