Revelation 8:13 –
Then I looked, and I heard a single eagle crying loudly as it flew through the air, “Terror, terror, terror to all who belong to this world because of what will happen when the last three angels blow their trumpets.”
The first 4 trumpets were blown in this chapter and the end results were awful. The first produced fire, hail and blood from the sky that destroyed 1/3 of the earth, 1/3 of the trees and all the green grass. The second produced what sounds like a volcano in the ocean that made 1/3 of the ocean blood, killed 1/3 of the sea creatures and destroyed 1/3 of all vessels. The third produced what sounds like a meteor or comet that strikes the earth and makes 1/3 of the water bitter to the point of killing all who drink it.
The fourth one darkened 1/3 of the day and night, which seems odd since the night is already dark. Either way 1/3 of all heavenly bodies went dark and considering how depressing it gets when it’s dark more than light imagine it more and imagine how cold it must get. After all this there is now this eagle lamenting the next three trumpets, like this was not bad enough! The next three bring terror and not just discomfort, so I can see where this could be worse.
Now as we read Revelation we see many of John’s visions have become true, over and over again in history. I think of World War II as the time in modern history that most closely matches these “prophecies”. Think about it, Hitler could be the anti-Christ, the atomic bombs were detonated on people, the holocaust against the Jews occurred, and many millions lost their lives in battle. Think about the depression and the third angel, where in Germany (the Weimar Republic) where money became worthless.
See you will drive yourself nuts when you think about it too much. Also, there is no telling if it will ever happen at all since like with Nineveh, God may accept our repentance. One thing that is 100% probable of happening is us dying. We will never know the time or place of that either and many will not get the “death bed” repentance they so desire. I think that was why I drifted in my college years, since I figured I could fix things later. In my case I did, in Tim Huckabee’s case he didn’t. Tim was a friend who died in a motorcycle accident just goofing off. Make your peace with God now and live under his rule, I promise life will be better.
