Don’t Curse God, Good And Bad Happen to All

This is a reblog of emails I sent out in 2010.

Job 2:10 – “But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish
woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything
bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.”

At this point Job has been covered in boils (basically a
huge zit that itches) … his wife, who also lost kids, servants, livestock and
the rest, said Job should curse God and die. This is Jobs response.

Job is basically saying we should not be fair weathered
believers. God may not have caused what’s happening to us, but He is in charge.
“Fair weather” Christians are easy to find … the stock market is
good, their job is rocking, their kids are church leaders … God is good. But
if all that were to change, what is that person’s outlook on church and life??

We are to praise God through the good as well as the bad. We
need to understand that God is in charge … and that in God all things work
for the best. When things are thought don’t just pray for them to get better,
thank God for the lessons and the experience.

Proverbs 6:16-19 –

16 There are six things the Lord
hates—

     no, seven things he detests:

17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,

     hands that kill the innocent,

18 a heart that plots evil,

feet that race to do wrong,

19 a false witness who pours out lies,

a person who sows discord in a family.
