Don’t Look Forward And Worry, Look Back And Prepare

The future is pressing on everyone’s mind. What does it
hold? Are we going to be ok? Is China’s problems going to collapse the world’s
economy? Are all these signs showing the coming of Jesus? What will happen
tomorrow? Matthew 6:34 is often used to try to settle our spirits:

Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient
unto the day is the evil thereof.

This has been used as a cliché bumper sticker since the
words were spoken, but we need to see it’s true. We need to understand that
God, through all the muck and mire is our salvation. Sure things may suck
tomorrow or they may be a new day in a wonderful future. We never know for sure
and that is why we should not worry.

I can go on for hours on the negative health effects worry
and stress have on one’s body, but it’s sufficient to say that it is not
positive. So why get drawn into the mess? Jesus made it clear we need to focus
on today and living pure and clean today. If China brings the world markets
down, then so it will be and nothing your worry will change.

A close friends is freaking out about the recent drop on
China’s SSE Composite Index, but when we step back and see it over time we see
this is not as bad as 2007/8 when things were awful. Also, everyone looks at
the “Great Depression” as the future reality, but in reality things were tough,
but we survived and learned. Unfortunately it seems that as a generation that experiences
calamity dies away, the next generation tends to relive it.

So really we should look BACK and prepare, not forward
and worry. Know HISTORY and learn from other’s misteaks.
