Zechariah 11:16 caught my eye today:
For, lo, I will
raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off,
neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that
that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their
claws in pieces.
Initially
I read this and was concerned. Was God sending a bad shepherd? Then I dug a bit
deeper and thought a bit more. You need think about Jesus, “the Good Shepherd”
and then think about the Pharisees.
During the time of Jesus, these “righteous” men were ignoring the weak, the
ones who needed help and guidance. Their concerns were with lavishly living on
the tithe of others.
They had lost direction and, as
we know, led the people to kill the Lamb of God. This was a warning then and is one always,
beware of people leading you down their path and not Gods. It’s easy to do, mix
in scripture, thoughts of the world and take things out of context, then you
have a story which seems plausible yet is not right. How do YOU protect
yourself and know the Truth?
Well the answer should be
obvious, study the bible. I hope you take my “Thoughts” and dissect them to
make sure I am not off my rocker. The last thing I would want is to have your
faith based on my words and not the Word! My role is to make you think and
inspire you to study. Call me on where you think I am wrong; question my
conclusions as I hope you do with anyone teaching the Word. It’s not bad to do
so … again I believe God would rather see you do that than just sit back and
observe.
