Just rambling as I hit the road without network connectionor a Bible. I am going to start reading Yancy’s book Prayer and see what I
learn. The importance of prayer in monumental in interfacing with God and
cannot be second guessed. We have barely tapped into the promise from Jesus in
John 14:12 where we should be doing greater things:
I tell you
the truth: whoever believes in Me will be able to do what I have done, but they
will do even greater things, because I will return to be with the Father.
I don’t think we have really tapped into prayer or the ultimate
power it has. Ann Bandini has a great book that gives us hope, but at the same
time I don’t see the world being healed by believers either. I see an idle
church waiting for Jesus to return. When He does I am afraid he will be
disappointed with our lack of faith.
Sure we may pray but do we believe what we pray will happen
or just hope? When we say “In Jesus’ name” is that a flowery ending or a
powerful stamp? I struggle with this often even when I see answered prayers, I
often feel there must be more.
In reality life and death, pain and joy, and all the other
joys of life will be with us till Jesus returns. We will always ask why when
our prayers seemed ignored. Why some get a “healing” and others die or suffer.
I struggle with this myself having been technically raised from the dead. I
thank God for my life every day as the story was I was blue and without oxygen
to my brain for over 5 minutes. I should not be here!!
At the same time I have seen people suffering and dying
often with the same problem I had and ask why me and not them. We need to
understand we are living in a world we cannot see fully. God can and does what
he does for a reason. Often we never understand, but must have faith over time.
So keep praying and trying to heal the sick, make the
lame walk and raise the dead. When it happens the GLORY need to all fall at the
feet of Jesus!!
