Love Or Lust?

Song of Songs
1 – 2

Verse 1:3 shows the general “love poem” of this book:

The pleasant aroma of your
fragrance rises in the air;
your name is like precious perfume
poured out:
This is why young women adore you.

I do like this since it’s much more eloquent than Jeff
Foxworthy’s “I wanna beer and see something naked” mentality. Unfortunately
with Solomon I take this with a grain of salt considering how many wives and
concubines he had. Who was he writing this to? The one he could not “have” or
someone who was not allowed per God’s orders? Was this written to the daughter
of Pharaoh, the one who eventually led him astray to the point he wrote “The
Lesser Key of Solomon”? I note that this book is the foundation of conjuring
demons in satanic cults. I have to wonder the mindset of him when he was
writing this book.

Verse 1:13 shows this to be a two way poem between the two
lovers:

My love is close to my
heart,

like a sachet of myrrh tucked
between my breasts.

I wonder if this was a joint collaboration or what Solomon
wished would be said. To the women who read this book is this something you
would write your love? This is why I wonder if a woman wrote this or it was
what Solomon wished was written. Also, since we are getting a woman’s opinion,
is this beautiful to your gender?

This is where the English language gets hung up since this “love”
is often misconstrued with the “love” of a brother and “love” for God. We are told
to love one and other, to which The Youngblood’s misconstrue into having sex with
everyone and somehow say “it’s Biblical”. You see the things we need to watch
for when reading an interpreted language. Hence why I love Bible Gateway and giving
us the ability to cross references almost all the translations available.

Verse 2:2 is something that talks about the world:

Him: Like a lily among
thorns, that is what she is;
        my dear is a
captivating beauty
 among the young women.

We are all lilies among thorns these days in trying to
show the love of Jesus. We need to focus on that since it becomes difficult to
maintain ones faith when we are constantly being pricked and poked by the
thorns in this world. But have faith that God is here to protect us from these
disturbances over our lives. Doesn’t mean it will not hurt, but that we will be
able to understand the love of God.
