A Man’s View vs. A Woman’s View

Song of Songs 4:10 –

Your love delights me, my treasure, my bride. Your love is better than wine, your perfume more fragrant than spices

This chapter is almost too “hot” to handle! It put into words the Eros love this man feels for his bride. As for a love poem, this one clearly and beautifully expresses the man’s passion he has for his bride. He can’t wait to see her and expresses that desire in this chapter. When you read this and explore the writings of the man versus the woman you see a stark contrast between their passions.

This could actually be taken in two different way, one is the man’s love that can describe his bride in words. On the other hand it could be view as more lust than love, since very little is said about anything other than her physical attributes. One could say he sounds more like someone filled with lust than actually love since all he is focusing on is her body.

This book contrasts the differences between men and women. Where men tend to focus on the physical desires where women focus on the emotional. That is something a loving relationship which includes agape love remembers. The relationship isn’t just about serving your needs, but making sure the others are served. Please note I am not putting a “he” or a “she” on this, both partners must work diligently to ensure the others needs are met. Never be a “taker” in a relationship or it will “flame-out” and wither.

Going to the movies are a great example, do you always go to action and adventure ones or mix in romantic dramas? I know it’s stereotyping to assume the genre of movie each sex is interested in, but it’s an example. As a partner you need to ask “what do you want” and not respond back with “whatever you want”. That quickly becomes one sided in a relationship. Ironically Hugo was my recent pick for a movie and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is your mothers pick, go figure. But they key is to compromise your desires to ensure the desires of the other is met.
