Did You Really Give Temptation Your “Best”???

1 Corinthians 10:13 –

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

How many times have you said “temptation got the best of me?” Really? Think back to when you said this, did you really give it your “best” or did you just give up? I can’t say how many times I just quit and succumbed to temptation and regretted it later. The key is don’t fall and live the life God wants you to. I know easier said than done, but it is something to strive for each and every day.

Now I have a saying, “I would rather learn from the mistakes of other, than on my own”. If you think about this it is something that is easy to do, but is ignored often. Think about it, the Bible has just about every “life experience” there is and yet people continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. Paul even uses the Israelites as an example, and they actually saw God’s immense power first hand! I watched people drown in debt and proceeded to strap on my cement shoes and jump in the deep end of debt.

One point this verse makes is the temptation will never be too great. Think about all the times you have been tempted, could you have walked? Did you walk or jump in? Our lives are so simple when you think about it, we need to survive only to eventually die. Why do we allow it to be complicated by falling into temptation? Temptation did not get the “best” of you, if you gave it your “best” you would have never fallen into it in the first place!! We need to keep focused on God and His will, not ours; then avoiding temptation is easy!
