Is Israel Following God’s Word Today?

Deuteronomy 10:18 – 19 –

<18> He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. <19> So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Interestingly, from what I understand Israel is one of the more peaceful places to live in the Middle East. I should discuss this more in detail with my sister who lives in Cairo, but from what I understand the non-Jewish residents who live under Israeli rule live in peace. They are treated well and welcomed by the government. The may be a distorted view but it appears they are following God’s lead in this manner.

Now one must look at Israel today to understand the conflict and what is happening. The current nation was reestablished after World War II and the injustice of the Nazi concentration camps. There was approximately 1500 years between the complete loss of the Promised Lands and when they got them back. Granted a political decree to take lands from one nation and give them to another are not always met with open arms. No the conflict in that region is all from the UN’s rebirth of Israel in 1948.

When you look at the brief time that Israel been in existence you can understand why there is hostility against them in the region. Interestingly they have not been the aggressors in the conflict, but rather defenders. When you look at the size of the nation’s battling them today and read much of the OT battles, it appears God is with them in this struggle. With all this, my understanding of life as a non-Jew in Israel is peaceful. They are following God’s commands even with people that have expressed hostility against them. I would love to hear a Muslim’s view of life in Israel.
