Psalm 146:8 –
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly.
This spoke to me big time this morning. My eyes are being opened to some major issues I have in my life. With this there is an incredible weight being lifted from my shoulders, while the burdens remain the perspective has changed. Finally, I hope the lord loves me for being “godly”! This prayer is one of the more personal ones to me for my point in life right now. I think it may be one that many can relate to during much of our lives!
Verse 1 starts it out with what we should be doing all along and that’s praising the Lord! Verse 3 reminds us to take our hope off of human and direct it back towards God. I think of Obama on how his presidency was campaigned on hope and change. He has been almost brought to a messiah like presence in the minds of many. Yet like all but one that has ever walked this earth, we discover he is only human. The Psalmist goes on at talks about the many reasons we should be thankful and then points out some of the benefits of being with God. He finally wraps it up with the promise of an eternal God and he gives thanks again.
There are many prayers which are good models when talking with God. This is one of them; it has most of the “components” necessary when talking with God. As you read it you are reminded that man is limited when compared to a limitless God. Again when I read it this verse grabbed me since it is a place I am in right now. The amazing this is this is happening without even praying for it, God is helping. For that I thank God for looking over me. Now does this mean we stop praying because God has got our backs? NO WAY!!
When we “isolate” ourselves from God or anyone for that matter we tend to limit our connection with them. A giver loves the appreciation for their gifts and will continue to give. God loves us more than any of us can ever imaging and He wants the best for us. At the same time He wants a connection to us and for us not to take His love for granted. So when you see things that happen, make sure you thank God and praise his name!
