Worn Out or Loving God?

Psalm 119:81 165 –

<81>I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.
<165>Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.

I am going to work to tie these two together because I see importance in both. The first has multiple levels, the first is the waiting for the Messiah. God early on promised a savior to rescue the Israelites. Many as time wore on were getting impatient waiting for their savior to rescue them. Today Christians await Jesus’ return and rescue. Many try to force God’s hand by saying the time will be such and such a day. Unfortunately those days come and go without the promised events.

Finally one can look at verse 81 as a personal rescue. I know me personally I have been putting hope in God to instantly rescue me from the crushing burden of debt. He has but what I feel should take a day is taking years of discipline and faith in His word! And this is where 165 ties into the discussion! One must love God’s instructions, the majority of which are found in His Law. Also, one must love His guidance throughout our day to day walk.

If you think about it we tend to stumble often and rarely have peace. Part of this is because we fight God’s guidance and help. The other reason is we are not patient and get worn out waiting for His promises or our expectations of what we believe He should do! That is where we start to flounder because like in my case I wonder why a windfall doesn’t happen to clear my debt. In many cases that already happened and guess what? Instead of clearing my debt and loving His laws on handling money, I doubled down and figured the business would expand!

Boy was I wrong! Patience and embracing God’s laws has helped over the last few years. Again I grow weary waiting on God’s rescue, but I have seen how loving His instructions have helped me gain peace and helped me not to stumble! Even if your faith is new, getting weak or nonexistent you can learn much from applying the principles found in the Bible. After time even most unbelievers can find peace in God’s word and maybe see how God guided people thousands of years before science proved His laws. And that’s was the key to this long chapter was to teach one to embrace God’s laws and guidance!
