The ABC’s of God’s Law!

Psalm 119:9 & 36 –

<9> How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.
<36> Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!

This is a long Psalm with a lot of great stuff so I am going to take a few days to unwind some of the truths here. This Psalm is divided up into many sections for individuals. This is the ABC Psalm and is dedicated to those who dwell on and love the Torah. They call it the ABC Psalm because its divided into 22 sections for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet. We Christians tend to dismiss the Torah since many feel Jesus fulfilling the Law in essence dismisses it. So this is very important to get excited about.

Sure people look at the law as restrictive, but it also opens so many doors with God. And with God all things are possible! So as a young person it’s difficult to “stay pure” and follow the word. You are being tugged in so many directions and unfortunately this generation of parents is not helping! For some reason we have become scared of what you may think of us. Sure we all went through the same feelings and emotions, but our parents appeared to be in unison. Now parents don’t condemn drug use and sleeping over with the opposite sex, they just allow it. They key to following God is not following the crowd!

The second verse convicted me in a way. I am focused on the money right now, granted it’s more about making sure all the bills are eliminated and no more are created … but it still consumes much of my thought. On a positive note we peaked at almost $600,000 in debt with the business and homes. Focusing on God’s principles when it comes to finances we are under $400,000! So yes the number is huge and gets most of my attention, but it’s going down!! The key I must work on is following God more and not worrying about money, but managing it by eagerly following the Law!
