The “Law” And The USA Immigration Policy

Exodus 22:21 –

You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Chapter 22 has a bunch of things on the protection of property and social responsibility. Could have pulled some of these that would have made you blush (at least they made me blush) and some that would show where our legal system fails to uphold “the law” with someone stealing something. Through all the details in the law this one caught my eye.

Today we are all up in arms about the “Mexican Invasion”, how our brothers and sisters from Mexico and further south are taking over our country by illegally immigrating to the USA. How are we treating them?? Not very fairly as far as wages and living conditions. They will work for less and we exploit that. We should not in one breath say they should leave and the other breath pay a low price for our landscaping which is done by illegals. This is one of the conundrums of the politics on this issue, do nothing and it takes jobs from legal Americans, enforce the laws and prices go higher for everyone and inflation becomes an issue.

I wonder if we are mistreating them as foreigners or if we hold too much value for our lazy butts, and they don’t mind working for what the job is worth. Either way from what I see in Suwanee and Buford, Georgia, the nation’s demographics is changing rapidly. Is the current Hispanic population being exploited as modern day slaves? Or again are they just willing to do the job for what it is worth? Either way as a nation we need to reflect on this verse and its meaning.
