Yahweh, Jehovah, The Great I Am, Lord, El-Shaddai, or God?

Exodus 6:3 –

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai— ‘God Almighty’—but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them.

Wow, God has a name, other than God. The Jehovah Witnesses address God as Jehovah. From this translation I see father God should be addressed as Yahweh. Now a quick “study” shows the original manuscript as using YHWH which is translated into Yahweh, Jehovah or “the Lord” or God depending on the translation. Either way it’s translated I believe God is not going to get upset if we address him as one of the four. Interestingly, the word YHWH is supposed to be a word that no one can pronounce anyway, so we technically cannot address God by name.

As you read on in this chapter you find Pharaoh needs a talking to and Moses does not feel confident to do so. Now imagine before this having a bush on fire, but not consuming itself and speak to you, shouldn’t you have faith Yahweh could not help you speak? Maybe he had a stutter or some other speech impediment at this time that has been given as a reason for his stuttering. Who really knows the exact reason for Moses not wanting to speak, other than the statement that Moses did not want to do public speaking!!

Trust God, Yahweh, Jehovah and the Lord as they are one in the same. Speak to Him in prayer and talk with Him. Enjoy seeing the good which springs up from things which initially look awful. Don’t be afraid to address God, at the same time don’t be afraid to do what God asks of you. He sometimes makes some big “asks” of us that we should have faith that He will be with us and provide what we need.
