Exodus 4:10 –
But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”
Boy I can relate to this concern!! Anyone who has heard me pray in public understands why;-) When I write I can re-read, edit and think about the words, yet as many of you know I still mess that up many times. When it comes to public speaking or talking with more than one person, I get lost in words. My thoughts go faster than my “output device” and many times I am mentally on a different subject before getting the last one out. I personally can relate to what Moses was thinking! If God asked me to do this, my first response would be the same concern.
Unfortunately being comfortable about taking to someone about something that may offend them is difficult. People like to live in their comfort zones, they can talk and enjoy life in that zone. God does not want us to live there!! Watching Moses’ struggle is true for all of us. Yea talking about how God loves us and how he has helped this week is easy in church, but how about to your friend who is lost, or someone you just met?
Step out and try to talk outside your comfort zone! One thing I can say is talking to your friends, who believe, will help make you more comfortable talking to ones who do not. Practice, practice, practice!! Also, going to church is not the only way to help, reading the bible helps also!! You will be surprised once in the “Word” how many times you can apply what you read that morning to your activates that day.
