What Would You Do Before A “Burning Bush”?

Exodus 3:11 –

But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”

Moses spoke these words before God at the burning bush! Think about it, Moses has been raised by Egyptian royalty and therefore should be comfortable with talking to Pharaoh. Also, God is speaking to him and delivering this command and still Moses is questioning. Moses like almost anyone who God calls and cannot see why God would use them with all their baggage to do God’s work. God decided to work through him despite the issues. Think about it, he was a murderer and he married outside his people. He was a common man, who had an uncommon God.

Don’t think if you are “called” to do something you are not worthy or capable. I believe Moses was just like any of us faced with a “burning bush” and a call to leadership. God just said do the impossible, he question him and asked why “ME”!! But as we will find out in this story and through our own lives, with God anything is possible.

Unfortunately, I don’t think we will see God talking to us in a burning bush or do any of the big the miracles we saw with Moses. But not to worry open your eyes and you will find the Holy Spirit is with you and talks to you daily. We all want to see the parting of the Red Sea for confirmation God is with us and often we miss the amazing “coincidences” that God does in our lives on a daily basis. Sure they don’t work on the “big screen” in Technicolor, but it doesn’t diminish that God’s hand was in it.

Sometimes I think the story of Moses harms the faith since almost all non-believers will point to all the miracles Moses did and say “where are they today?” Also, we as believers always expect a “burning bush” moment, where God comes and speaks directly to them. Then why they are waiting for that “sign” they ignore all the other prompts God is sending their way. I know constantly am looking for that big sign! Then if any of us would actually get a “burning bush”, would we not respond like Moses?
