Genesis 19:14 –
So Lot rushed out to tell his daughters’ fiancés, “Quick, get out of the city! The Lord is about to destroy it.” But the young men thought he was only joking.
Lot, Abraham’s brother, was in Sodom and apparently was the only good person there. Two angels came to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. During their short stay with Lot the men in the city tried to attack them in a wicked way. They told Lot to take his wife and daughters with their fiancés and get out of town. This is the response Lot got from the two fiancés.
Because of either disrespect or lack of understanding, they died when the city was destroyed. What does this mean to us? There seems to be a George Michaels theme here about “you gotta have faith”. A lack of faith cost these young men their lives. In a way this is what happens when we don’t accept Jesus and his teachings. Just like these men not accepting Lots claims, those who do not accept Jesus face the same death.
Not fun … but true. Now if you want to read a real dirty book or story … read this chapter. It goes into more detail than I would expect out of the bible;-)
Now … when you are finished with that … keep with me for the rest of Genesis!!
Proverbs 17:18 –
“It’s poor judgment to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for a friend.”
