Take My Wife … Please

Genesis 12:18-19 –

So Pharaoh summoned Abram and accused him sharply. “What have you done to me?” he demanded. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ and allow me to take her as my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and get out of here!”

We are already familiar with the story of Abraham or Abram, this is what I mean the Genesis moves fast and has a bunch of familiar stories. Adam/Eve, Cain/Abel, Noah … now Abraham/Sarah.

God has promised the make Abram a great nation. With his wife Sarai or later known as Sarah, he sets of to Egypt since there was a famine in his lands … this is where HE decides to save himself and lie about who Sarai was. Now did they grow old before having a son because of this act or was that the plan anyway?? It’s not clear in chapter 12 that this is the case. But … we will see if this gets referenced back.

Abram and Sarai leave Egypt at the end of the chapter.

What do we learn from this?? DON’T LIE!! It puts us I bad places, makes it difficult to remember the truth from the lies and makes us lose a bit of creed with our peeps** when they know we have lied to them. Also, it’s easier to remember the truth than who you told what lie to!!

Proverbs 19:17 –

“If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you!”
