3 John 1:5 –
Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you.
Well as you read the bible as you will see yesterday and today we just do ONE BOOK each (since they are 1 chapter long) … so they are fast reads. You read this and may not understand, today the “church” is a building with a place for people to come to hear the word. “Back in the day” … I mean really “back in the day” … preachers use to travel from town to town to spread the Gospel.
This letter was to make sure that people welcomed those teachers, so they could survive on the road. Now how does this apply today in our world. Who travels to preach the word?? Well remember when we go out on mission trips … remember when people would leave the church and go overseas to help spread the Gospel. This is happening today, just maybe not in our back yards. But if we are asked to help a person out who is preaching the word, we should do so with JOY!!
Proverbs 25:18 –
“Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.”
