God is Big

Micah 7:15-16 –

15 “Yes,” says the Lord, “I will do mighty miracles for you, like those I did when I rescued you from slavery in Egypt.”

16 All the nations of the world will stand amazed at what the Lord will do for you. They will be embarrassed at their feeble power. They will cover their mouths in silent awe, deaf to everything around them.

The first part of this chapter is telling Israel what will happen in the future, describing life as desolate (like after a big sale when all the good stuff is gone;). Then God will not leave us … he will shine upon us so bright that the world will take notice. As I read the old testament I notice much is a promise to Israel … it at times even mentions grace to all the lands. That’s where Jesus comes in … to bring us into Gods grace and favor.

I stand embarrassed at my “feeble power” with God only showing me a hint of what is possible. I can’t imagine what will cause “ALL the nations” to feel that way.

Next book Malachi … then back to the new testament.

Prov 11:24 & 25 –

“24 Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.

25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
