Job lays out his case before the Lord asking what he has done wrong. Verse 31:1 is an example of this:<\/p>\n
\nJob:<\/strong> I have made a sacred pledge with my eyes.
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0How then could I stare at a young woman with desire<\/em>?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nJob uses 8 areas of potential sin in his life and ask why the punishment does not fit the crime. Over and over Job makes his case before the Lord, questioning his problems with the Lord. It must be awful to have no idea why you\u2019re being punished or going through major trials.<\/p>\n
I see this today and have mentioned many before. I keep going to one friend who has been successful and the prime example I have used for reading the Bible so much since at the time I started he was on his 8th<\/sup> read through. During a fun vacation in the snow his son went off the trail and hit a tree. Since this accident he has been confined to a wheel chair. We all battle why God could allow something like this \u2026 and I do often, but we also must understand that we are not immortal and sometimes things just happen.<\/p>\n
We know this is not the case with Job, but often we use this story wondering if our hardships are Job events.<\/p>\n
Verse 31:27 points to a reference we don\u2019t explore often:<\/p>\n
\nIf such sights<\/em> secretly seduced my heart
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and made my hand throw kisses to the false gods of sun and moon<\/em>,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nWe need to look closely at the sun and moon gods since they really stem from the time when mankind rebuilt after the flood. Babylon was one of the cities that came from Noah\u2019s children. Babylon has often been Satan\u2019s city while Jerusalem has been God\u2019s. Nimrod and his wife Semiramis ruled. Somehow his wife who may have been the brains behind his rule, was eventually elevated to god of moon. Nimrod became the personification of the sun god. All this formed what has been come to be known as the mystery religion. The sun god may be Baal or Ra, but always exist in some form.<\/p>\n
Chapter 32 we are introduced to Elihu, a younger silent observer who had to state his mind. In chapter 32 he is setting the stage for his comment. He is basically saying he cannot remain silent any longer since the \u201cwise\u201d have failed to see the obvious. It will be interesting what he has to say.
