Did you ever wonder why a hearty bacon and eggs breakfast is
\nthe staple of American meals today? In the 1950\u2019s Edward Bernays was hired by
\nBeech-Nut to sell more bacon. He did not create some flashy slogan or cute 30
\nsecond ad. No he gave a carefully worded survey to 5000 doctors who all agreed
\nthat a hearty breakfast, specifically with bacon and eggs was a better than a
\nlight one which was the norm of the time. So within a short time this became
\nnews, and Beech-Nut was already prepared to take advantage of this \u201cnews\u201d
\nbecause they were the ones who \u201ccreated\u201d it.<\/p>\n
Seems very covert when you think about it, but \u201cpublic
\nrelations\u201d or \u201cpropaganda\u201d has been used since the early 1900\u2019s when Bernays,
\ninterestingly the nephew of Sigmund Freud, perfected this industry. Today the
\nword \u201cpropaganda\u201d has become a tool of propaganda since that word is associated
\nwith Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. So it has become the subliminal \u201cGoodwin\u2019s
\nLaw\u201d (an internet law that says a debate will eventually break down into
\nsomeone calling the other a Nazi or Hitler) when pointed out in a discussion.
\nPeople will defend their position on saying \u201cdo you think I am trying to kill
\nmillions of Jews?\u201d<\/p>\n
Anyway, in my life of debating I notice how this is used
\nover and over again. Look at Global Warming and how the debate evolved. The
\nsupporters said ALL scientists agree that Global Warming is happening. Then temperatures
\nchanged to a cooler period and scientist were coming out saying the climate is
\ncooling. I remember in the 1970\u2019s when we had some brutally cold winters and
\nthe \u201cclimate scientist\u201d were claiming we were headed into an ice age, then 20
\nyears later Al Gore was showing the \u201chockey stick\u201d saying temperatures were
\nheaded north and fast. <\/p>\n
The lobby for global warming was the anti-pollution group
\nwho has also been over-run by anti-capitalists and they had to keep changing their
\ntune. So propaganda was used, first with \u201ctestimonials\u201d of scientists. Since
\nthey now had scientists saying that global warming was not true, they changed
\nit to climate change and carefully scripted the tune that climate changes due
\nto pollution. With \u201ctransfer\u201d anyone who was denying this were \u201cflat earthers\u201d
\nor science deniers, basically hicks from the back woods, no matter how logical
\nthe argument was against climate change. They also used \u201cbandwagon\u201d where \u201ceveryone
\nagrees\u201d therefore if you do not you are going to be responsible at killing off
\nthe human race. See how it works.<\/p>\n
You can go on the other side and see the same tactics used.
\nNo one looks at the logical solution since pollution is bad and we need to get
\noff of relying on petro and coal for energy and production. But that does not
\nmean stop it, but rather work to clean things up! We should have a \u201cSkunk Works\u201d
\nproject on this today if it is truly that important!<\/p>\n
I have also seen this tied into the debate of Evolution. \u201cTestimonials\u201d
\nare used saying NO scientist denies evolution, which is true. There is no
\ndenying evolution happens but to the extent Darwin suggested in the Origin of
\nSpecies is where a debate happens. Notice scientists like Walter Veith who is a
\nbiologist AND a creationists is ignored and pastors like Ray Comfort are shown
\nat how nutty they are. \u201cTransfer\u201d occurs no matter how logical Ray\u2019s arguments
\nmay be and they show his foolish ones like \u201cit\u2019s only a theory\u201d one. In science
\n\u201conly\u201d a theory is as close to TRUTH as one can be next to a LAW. The common
\npersons definition of a theory is a scientific definition of a hypothesis. Then
\n\u201cbandwagon\u201d is used when religious figures say evolution is true, so if science
\nAND religion says it\u2019s true than therefore it is.<\/p>\n
The key here is DON\u2019T be fooled and think for
\nyourself. Listen to ALL sides and don\u2019t get caught in the propaganda that WILL
\nbe used by BOTH sides in the argument. Ask yourself, how did smoking become a
